The WOMEN'S FOUNDATION of ARKANSAS
- Promoting philanthropy among women
- Helping women and girls achieve their full potential
The WFA's Girls of Promise (GoP) program is a series of day conferences hosted by colleges and universities across the state of Arkansas and designed to introduce eighth-grade girls to amazing women role models at a critical time in their development.
Purpose
The purpose of the WFA's Girls of Promise program is to:
- introduce 8th grade girls to professional women role models from an array of non-traditional, math, science, & technology fields;
- inspire girls to see the "big picture" and prepare for their future;
- show how math, science, and technology are used outside of school in daily life.
History
The WFA's first Girls of Promise conference was hosted by the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2000. Since that first conference, over 3,000 girls have attended conferences across the state and have been introduced to Arkansas women computer systems engineers, corporate executives, physicians, scientists, university presidents, and many more!
Conference Locations
The WFA continues to expand the reach of our Girls of Promise program. We currently partner with the following colleges and universities to host our conferences: Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, NorthWest Arkansas Community College in Bentonville, South Arkansas Community College in El Dorado and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
